Total Basement Finishing of Western NY Case Studies: A Basement Apartment In Tonawanda, NY
Challenge
A woman from Tonawanda, NY called Total Basement Finishing because her son was moving home and she wanted to renovate the basement to become a full apartment for him. For her this meant turning the open space into multiple rooms, including a bathroom. When meeting with the woman and her son, our Design Specialist found out that her son wanted to have a private entrance to the basement so he wouldn't have to bother his mother as he came and went.
Solution
This was a basement where an egress window just would not do. We worked with the son, and planned a secure egress door and stairwell that would let him come and go without going through the rest of the house. With that installed, and the kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom finished this became a lovely apartment.
