Job Stories From Chautauqua County, NY
Total Refinish In Chautauqua, NY

In the spring of 2019 we were contacted by a fantastic homeowner, who had recently purchased his home in Chautauqua, NY; adjacent to the Chautauqua Institution. He had an ambitious project for TBF of WNY to work with him on.  He wanted to totally refinish his basement, add 2 bedrooms with an egress window each, and put in a kitchenette. It would become a perfect space to have guests over in.

We did all this and more, adding a bathroom to the basement as well.  We insulated the basement with closed cell insulation to keep thing warmer, and used our EverLast Wall Systems to refinish the exterior walls and to divide the basement into individual rooms.  Egress windows were put into each bedroom area and will keep the occupants safe in the future. The basement was rewired, and new outlets and lights were put in. We both painted the ceiling and put in a drop ceiling due to the basement's height and the uses of the space to keep things cozy.

There is no doubt that this beautiful finished basement will be used and enjoyed for many years to come. And we at TBF of WNY are so pleased that we could refinish the basement in this beautiful Chautauqua, NY home to enhance the homeowner's life there.

Maintenance Free Basement in Fredonia, NY

We met a homeowner named John at the Buffalo Home Show in 2017. He was very interested in our basement refinishing services as his basment had been finished before but was in rough shape when he met us.  He was initially interested in just refinishing the walls and ceiling, but when he saw our flooring options he and his wife decided to put in a new floor too.

When our Design Specialist was at their home, he found that the drywall that had been put up previously had been water damaged and torn apart. The perfect solution to this was the EverLast Wall System. It's inorganic materials resist water and have none of the issues that drywall does in a basement.

John told us that he was very happy with how his basement turned out, and we are so glad that we could refinish the basement for him and make the space workable and safe for him.

Just Finishing Half The Basement In Jamestown, NY

Knowing that they wanted more space while staying home so much in 2020 due to Covid-19, a couple in Jamestown, NY contacted TBF of WNY about refinishing half of their basement for them. They had been having small problems with water seeping into the basement, and wanted a waterproofed fresh space to spend more time in.  Our Design Specialist Kenton met with the couple, and they all were very excited about going forward with the work in their basement.

TBF of WNY did a small waterproofing job for them, tieing the new drainage system into their home seamlessly. We also took out the old organic material based fiber boards that were by the stairs, which got rid of the water damage in the basement. TBF of WNY installed new EverLast wall systems, which because they are made of inorgainc materials helped create a clean and water resistant room for the couple. We also installed an egress window which added a level of safety to their home.

Refinishing A Basement For A Growing Family In Irving, NY

In 2017 one of our Design Specialists met with a couple in Irving, NY. They had a child, and another on the way so they wanted to refinished their basement to create a space that the whole family could grow with and enjoy.

The Design Specialist measured the basement, and found it to be fairly empty which would make the renovation easier with less for the couple to move. Our EverLast Wall Systems made a huge difference in how the basement looked. They create a clean, modern look, and are also easy to clean which is a huge bonus for families with small children.  A painted ceiling, new floor pannels and fresh doors completed the basement's look. This basement was ready to be made into a family room when we finished the project.

Refinishing A Finished Basement In Ashville, NY

In the summer of 2019 a pair of new homeowners contacted TBF of WNY, they wanted to remodel their basement to better suit their needs. When our design specialist met with the homeowners; the basement was finished from another decade. It had a small kitchen, a bathroom, and no water issues; but the homeowners wanted a living space in their basement that would better suit their lifestyles.

TBF of WNY did some demolition work, taking down the exiting drop ceiling amongst other things. New EverLast Walls went up, and a new linen dropped ceiling with recessed lights made a huge difference in the space. It made things look clean and modern, and these unlike drywall and the previous drop ceiling are mold and mildew resistant.  Baseboard heat was installed to help heat the basement in the winters, and new flooring finished the look of the space.

Creating A New Look In Westfield, NY

A homeowner contacted TBF of WNY, he wanted to refinish his basement as he wanted a clean and modern look to it. It had been finished originally in the 1970's or 1980's and it was covered in wood paneling. He had some concerns that there might be water leaking into the basement through the walls or floors as there was water damage to the paneling in one corner of the room. But because the paneling was there he couldn't be sure where the water was coming from.

At the initial appointment the homeowner gave his permission for the Design Specialist to remove some of the wood paneling from the corner to see what was really going on. To both of their surprise there was no damage to the walls or floors, but there was water coming in through the window wells.

Demolition was the first step in refinishing this basement. Along with our EverLast Wall Systems, and a new linen drop ceiling; new Sun House windows and new EverLast Basement Window Inserts were installed, which helped take care of the water issue. Thermal Dry tiles on the floor and decorative wraps around the support poles finished the refinishing and gave the basement a clean and modern look that wood paneling could never achieve.

New Basement Space in Lakeview, NY!

In the quaint town of Lakeview, NY, nestled among the rolling hills and serene lakes, lived Pam, a long-time resident known for her warm smile and welcoming nature. For 25 years, she had made a life in her unique ranch-style home, which boasted the curious charm of appearing as a two-story building on one side due to its construction on a sloping hillside.

Pam's home was her pride and joy, with its sturdy concrete walls and a cozy basement that opened up to the lush greenery outside through a walkout entrance. The basement, finished yet unassuming with its standard ceiling height and suspended tiles, had served many purposes over the years. But now, it stood empty, waiting for a new chapter.

One crisp morning, as the dew still clung to the blades of grass, Pam decided it was time for a change. She envisioned transforming her idle basement into a vibrant apartment—a place that could not only reflect her taste but also welcome guests with the same warmth she carried in her heart.

With this dream in her mind, Pam reached out to Total Basement Finishing of Western NY, a company renowned for their craftsmanship and attention to detail. As she discussed her vision with the experts, her eyes sparkled with the possibilities. She spoke of a modern kitchenette here, a cozy reading nook there, and perhaps, a small fireplace to warm the spirits of those who would dwell within.

The day of the appointment arrived, and Pam, ever punctual, was there, her anticipation as palpable as the morning sun that filtered through the trees. The experts from Total Basement Finishing walked through the space, their eyes measuring, minds calculating, but it was their hearts that truly saw the potential of Pam's dream.

The once plain basement transformed into an abode of comfort and style. Where there were once bare walls, now stood a kitchenette adorned with the finest cabinetry, a bathroom that echoed the tranquility of the lakeside, and living spaces that invited laughter and stories.

Pam's basement apartment became the talk of Lakeview, a testament to her vision and the dedication of those who helped bring it to life. It was more than just a renovation; it was a realization of a dream, a space that mirrored the beauty of its surroundings and the warmth of its creator.

And so, Pam's home grew not just in size, but in love and purpose, as the newly fashioned apartment welcomed guests from near and far, all finding comfort in the little haven built into the hillside of Lakeview.

Matthew's Basement Transformation

Matthew and his wife, newly minted homeowners in the quaint town of Lakeview, NY, faced a dilemma. Their charming house came with a basement—a hidden treasure trove of space—but also a potential threat. Water damage loomed like a dark cloud over their cherished belongings stored below.

One rainy evening, Matthew sat with his wife, poring over old family photo albums and reminiscing about their journey. The basement, damp and dimly lit, held these precious memories—framed photographs, heirloom furniture, and childhood mementos. They couldn’t bear the thought of losing any of it to water seepage.

Desperate for a solution, they reached out to Total Basement Finishing of Western NY. The company promised expertise in transforming damp, neglected basements into functional, beautiful spaces. Matthew and his wife scheduled a design appointment, their hopes cautiously high.

Over the next few weeks, Total Basement Finishing detailed plan, complete with a design layout. Matthew and his wife marveled at the transformation: waterproof vinyl flooring that mimicked hardwood, elegant wall panels that resisted moisture, and custom-built shelving units to organize their treasures. The pièce de résistance was a cozy reading nook by the window, where sunlight filtered through sheer curtains.

As the work progressed, Matthew and his wife watched in awe. The crew installed a sump pump, ensuring that water would never threaten their belongings again. The once dreary basement now radiated warmth and purpose. They hosted a small housewarming party, inviting friends and neighbors to admire their newfound space.

Matthew’s wife, her eyes shining, whispered to him, “This is better than we ever imagined.” And he agreed. Their basement was no longer a damp dungeon but a sanctuary—a place where memories intertwined with practicality.

As the rain tapped against the basement windows, Matthew sat in his cozy reading nook, a cup of tea in hand. He glanced at the framed photograph of their wedding day—the moment they became a family. Thanks to Total Basement Finishing, that family legacy would endure, protected from the elements.

And so, in Lakeview, NY, Matthew and his wife found joy in their transformed basement—a testament to resilience, thoughtful design, and the promise of a brighter future
